Irish music by New Moon Comes to the Seneca Falls Library
Celtic Music to help celebrate St. Patrick and Irish heritage will be presented in the Seneca Falls Library, 47 Cayuga Street on March 23 at 8 p.m. by the Irish band New Moon. "New Moon is our favorite Irish band here at the library," says Irish librarian, Michael Caraher.
New Moon is a casual grouping of four musicians who came together simply for the purpose of making music that feels good. Each member has spent many years performing in various ensembles, learning, growing, and stretching the music to fit an individual's style. Random wandering brought them together, with each person bringing a unique offering to the group. The result is a musical experience that includes American Folk, Celtic, Delta Blues, Zydeco, Tin Pan Alley, and any contemporary piece that fits.
New Moon has spent a decade traveling throughout the Finger Lakes region, playing at wineries, pubs, community concerts, weddings, graduations, and any home where sincere music is welcome. Group members are Greg Grodem, Gary Kline, and the brothers Murphy, John and Jim.
With an individual grand total of over 100 years in the performance of music, New Moon stands ready to play their Irish tunes and make the evening a memorable one.
New Moon has been supported in part by public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts Decentralization Program, which is administered locally by Finger Lakes Arts Grant and Services, Inc. and in part by the Friends of the Library.
