Trumpet the Seneca Falls Library

The trumpet is made of brass tubing bent into a rough spiral. The trumpet is the highest brass instrument in the register. A person who plays the trumpet is called a trumpeter.

The Seneca Falls Library, located at 47 Cayuga Street, continues the "Meet the Instrument" series with "The Horn as a Musical Instrument." The Library is please to host Trumpeter, Karen Lucas, at 8 p.m. on May 18. Karen will play and discuss using the horn as a music maker.

Karen has extensive performance experience locally as the Conductor of the Seneca Falls Community Band, the principal Trumpet with the Finger Lakes Orchestra, and the trumpet section leader with the Finger Lakes Community College Concert Band. Her professional experience includes more than ten years as the Band Director at the Geneva City School District. She is working with the Seneca Falls Library on the Summer Reading, Music and Theater fun camp.

Karen has invited Susan Horvath, clarinet player to join in the music making along with Valerie Coleman, as the narrator and Denise Morphy who will accompany Karen on the piano. The community is invited to come listen and enjoy the wonderful music created by these talented musicians and to join in after the music for some cookies and punch. The event is free and open to all!

The Horn has been supported in part by public funds from the NYS Council on the Arts Decentralization Program, which is administered locally by Finger Lakes Arts Grants and Services, Inc. and in part by the Friends of the Seneca Falls Library.
