Children's Librarian Appointed

The Seneca Falls Library is happy to introduce our new Children's Librarian Ms. Marsha Foote. She comes to us with a vast background in youth development, story telling and years of experience working with children and young adults. A monthly newsletter for children and youth can be picked up in the library or on the library web site www.senecafallslibrary.org January’s newsletter is now available. Read the newsletter and locate the story hour or book club just right for you, then come and join Ms. Foote as she journeys through a selection of fascinating books.

Seneca Falls Library Happenings for Children

Reading Maniacs

The Seneca Falls Library will be starting a program titled "Reading Maniacs" for children in 3rd and 4th grade. We will meet every month to talk about books, do a puzzle or other activity, and enjoy a light snack. Come and hear about the newest Caldecott and Newbery Award-winning books. We will start reading together, sharing together, and learning together on Wednesday, January 12th, 2005 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. on a monthly basis at the Seneca Falls Library.

Starlight Story Time

The Seneca Falls Library will be meeting monthly for "Starlight Story Time" starting Friday, January 14th from 7:00-8:00 p.m. This is a special time for children. Stories will be appropriate for preschool-aged children but all ages of children are welcome. Bring you children to the library and let us read their favorite bedtime story or maybe one of our favorites will become one of theirs!

Threes, Fours, and More

Starting Saturday, January 15th,the Seneca Falls Library invites children, 3-5 years old (accompanied by a parent or care giver) to join us while we share in the delight of literature with the children and mix it with amusing finger plays, puppets, and melodies. We will also have a special and unique characters come alive to add to the excitement of the story time.We will meet bi-weekly for about forty-five minutes from 1:00-1:45 p.m. at the Seneca Falls Library.

A Celebration of a Promise

The Seneca Falls Library invites you to the Library on Monday, January 17th at 10:00-11:00 a.m. or 6:30-7:30 p.m. to hear stories, facts, and reflections about Martin Luther King, Jr, with the new children’s librarian, Marsha Foote. Come and hear a creative celebration about a man of peace; a man who changed history; a man who had a dream

The Two of Us

The Seneca Falls Library will be starting a program for two year olds and their parents/ care giver. Please join us as we start our adventure into the world of books on Wednesday, January 19th from 6:30-7:30 p.m. on a bi-weekly basis. Toddlers and their parents/care givers will be introduced to books and will be able to interact with other two year olds as they will participate together in stories, tunes, and action rhymes!

Big Kid Story Time

The Seneca Falls Library would like to invite children from 5-8 years of age to attend "Big Kid Story Time" which will be starting on Thursday, January 20th at 6:30-7:30 p.m. at the Seneca Falls Library on a bi-weekly basis. It is an hour program designed to build upon the joy of books children are beginning to experience at school. Children will have a chance to read out loud as well as be read to. This is a great opportunity to have ‘special time’ with your child or children.

Teens Read(& more)

The Seneca Falls Library will be starting a program for students in 7th-9th grade. We will begin to explore the literary world on Saturday, January 22 from 1:30-2:15 p.m. once a month with a Junk Food Fest. Please bring a snack to share, drinks will be provided. Each month we will discuss books, listen to stories (old and new) and munch on tasty snacks. Sometimes we will host special events like crafts, game tournaments, or even a murder mystery. Watch for announcements for all special events!

High School Literature Club

Students in grades 9th-12th grade our are invited to join us for the first meeting on January 26th from 7:00-8:00 p.m. Our first agenda will include: choosing a club name (come with ideas), sharing a piece of your own writing (or a favorite piece by someone else), and a discussion on the focus of the club. There is no commitment, come and see what its all about!
